What is speech and language therapy?

The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists describes therapists as being ‘ allied health professionals. They work with children and adults who have difficulties with communication, or with eating, drinking and swallowing.  Speech and language therapists work closely with parents and carers and other professionals, such as teachers, nurses, occupational therapists and doctors.’

Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) work in a variety of settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, community clinics, mainstream schools and special schools to name but a few.  SLTs work with a variety of disorders across client groups.  For more information about speech and language therapy go to the RCSLT website.
